Race five of the Grand Pricks Series, #6
Passing the time
This is the fifth race installment in the twenty one race series. Most running mags who report on these races center around who won and quick times. This blog revolves around the seamy underbelly in each race; the also-rans: the has-beens: the crippled: the infirm: the insane.
These are my people. Read on.
The GPS Schedule demands mental toughness. It's still hard to prepare for running two marathons six days apart in two weeks.
Training and getting ready mentally for this onslaught chews up a heck of a lot of time.
Then up pops this race on the series schedule.
Huh?
A 4 Miler?
Oh- Kay, Whatever.
With no serious thought prepping for this race I simply showed up and ran it.
Done.
ps:
That's all I was going to write, but it wouldn't be fair to the folks who organized this race. The Hospital went all out and really put on a fine show, very well executed. It all went too well. Kinda like driving a Toyota Camry or going out to eat at a T.G.I. Fridays. All good but lacking any character. Don't get me wrong, the whole thing was excellent, not one complaint.
But...
I don't know, I guess I like events to be a little rough around the edges, not quite like the ill-fated Foster Rhode Island 30K rough, but the race needs something to make it stand out.
Yeah, the course was a challenge, maybe if the water-stops were "manned" by the Hooters Women.
That's the ticket!
